From the survey I made regarding which magazine I should pick as my final choice. Almost each response suggested that magazine 2 should be my top choice, therefore I will use it.

Research and Planning: Film Trailer Overall Production - Risk Assessment

The following are issues that may occur during our filming production stage:

  • Actors being busy (unable to film)
  • Weather (heavy rain for instance would prevent filming as damage to cameras).
  • Sound (cars, passer-by's, nature).
  • Loss of footage (other students use cameras and could delete unknowingly).
How we will try to prevent these issues occuring:

  • Set up a schedule and agree times/dates with all actors required at that time.
  • Film inside and/or when weather clears.
  • Wait for time of quiet.
  • Label cameras clearly so others know not to delete footage without consulting us beforehand.

Production: Film Magazine Update

I am pleased with the title of my magazine, I feel that the name is unique and very related to film, as it says premiere. I feel that the '+' sign also makes the magazine stand out as it is a subtle way of stating that this magazine gives the readers news about films plus more. Also, the font is bold and clear to read.
I am going to add more cover lines to fill in the spaces. They will all be related to film and film news.
I need to make many adjustments and improvements to the main image, I will do this in later lessons.
I like the red strip across the page as I feel it lures in the audience and also highlights what this particular magazine is focused on (my trailer).

Production: Film Magazine Update

This is the first look at my film magazine. I am happy with it so far as I feel the title stands out and also the diagonal banner across draws attention to the magazine. Now I am going to add more cover lines and also an image of the main character in 'Vengeance' to complete the look.

Production: Making My Own Production Company Logo

As my trailer will be of the horror genre, it seemed fitting that the production companies would be related to that genre. Therefore I soon came up with the name 'FEAR PRODUCTIONS' and it also seemed fitting to have an image related to fear or death included in the final look - hence the skull and bones image in the lower right corner.

Production: Making Trailer Opening

Today I have created the opening sequence of my horror film trailer.
Firstly, I looked at existing openings and then used Photoshop CC to create a duplicate, the following image is what I created:

By using certain tools on Photoshop I managed to create the final product of:

I feel that this looks very good and professional, therefore it will be the very first image that the audience see in the trailer.

Research and Planning: Location Recce for Poster

Research and Planning: Props for Poster

1. The poster will have a knife in the center of the page.

2. A slight sighting of the black hoodie can be seen as Bobby (the actor) is wearing one as he holds the knife in his hand.

Research and Planning: Props for Magazine

My magazine will not require any props - the main image is just of Bobby wearing his hoodie.

Pre-Production: Photography

This is a long shot - it could also be used as an establishing shot, which tells the audience where the location of the new scene is.

This is a high-angle shot, high angle shots can make people look very small/weak.

Low-angle shot, this can be used to show people of power.

This is a birds-eye view shot.

This is a mid-close up of a lamp.
This is a P.O.V. shot.
This is a landscape shot. Can be used to start/end a film.

Research and Planning: Character Names

To decide our characters names, my partner Georgina and I decided to look on popular baby names websites.

After spending some time looking over them we decided on 'Megan' for our main protagonist and 'Bobby' for the antagonist.

Research and Planning: Horror Film Posters Research

Image: The main image in this poster is of the victim and villain in the center. The identity of the villain is hidden from the audience; this is done purposefully to add mystery to the poster, thus drawing the audience in.
Font: 'The Tall Man' is written in a bold font which is coloured white to make it stand out in contrast with the dark background.
Colour: Low-key lighting is used to translate the genre of the film, as it is a horror we know that the film will include dark themes such as death.

Image: The main image in this poster is the villain. He is in centre frame which shows us that he is the main character. The image also has a background of a creepy forrest which indicates that the film is set in an abandoned location far out from a city or populated place.
Font: The font is coloured in red and is bold.
Colour: Low-Key lighting is used to show that the film has dark themes. The colour schemes are red, black and grey.

Research and Planning: Film Title Ideas on Solvr

After much deliberation my partner Georgina and I have decided to use 'Vengeance' as the name of our film trailer.
