Note to Moderator

Hello Moderator and welcome to my A2 Media Blog!

Below are my completed ancillary tasks as well as my final teaser trailer for 'VENGEANCE'.

Situated under them is my evaluation, and then my production stage, all the way down to my research and planning at the start of the year.

I hope you enjoy reading through, as much as I did in the process of creating it.

Thanks,

Sarah Elizabeth Martin.

Production: Film Trailer Update

My partner and I have decided to make our trailer black and white.
We have decided to make the equilibrium a soft black and white effect to reflect that it is happy and romantic, but then decided to make the black and white effect much darker and sharper as the trailer progresses (to reflect the tone and action occurring).

Production: Film Trailer Update

Today I have focused on the sound element of the trailer 'Vengeance'. I have been using garage band to create a score of music. I have also been incorporating sound FX like nature sounds, school bells and phones ringing. These are all helping the trailer come together.

Research and Planning: Learning Garage Band

As I have never used Garage Band before, and as my role is 'sound', I found it incredibly important to try and learn/understand as much as possible before tackling it myself.
To do this, I watched multiple YouTube videos on how to make basic music scores:

By watching these I have learnt some basic skills and gained some knowledge about the software and how to use it to the best standard.
While watching the tutorials I brought up Garage Band on my iMac and followed the instructions.

Production: Film Trailer Update

Today I have added the first few shots of our actors portraying a happy couple in a park. We have used an effect of 'cross dissolve' to merge the shots together in a form of a montage.

Production: Film Trailer Update

This is the first try my partner and I have used to create the ending sequence of our trailer.
I am particularly pleased with the effect of 'Mosaic' on the text, as it creates a distorted feel which is ideal for a horror trailer.
We still need to add sound to it to make it even more effective, once that is done it shall be ready to be imported into the final trailer.

Production: Using After Effects

I am using Adobe After Effects to create our title shot for the trailer. I am animating the text so that it moves on screen as I feel this will be a good addition to the trailer in terms of realism and professionalism.

I have learnt how to do this by looking on YouTube and watching multiple tutorials which took me step by step in the process.

I now feel more confident using After Effects and will continue to make titles for the trailer using this software.

Production: Vengeance Trailer Update

Rather than have multiple shots of the various film production companies, my partner and I decided to change our idea and have both their logos on the same black canvas - we got this idea from the film trailer of 'Spotlight', as I have shown below.

Production: Using After Effects

I have decided to create, using 'Adobe After Effects', a news report title sequence for our trailer. I have done this because I want it to be as professional as possible, I also wish to learn how to use 'Adobe After Effects' for future projects.
